DAY 46 - ROCK PAPER SCISSORS
[46/365]
ROCK PAPER SCISSORS 1950s
My father loved to play the game with us,
gathering his four small offspring at his knee.
Game of chance, and competition,
it was serious business, and we played to win.
When it came time to collect payment,
we administered the two finger slap,
hard rap in the middle of tender, kid-sized wrists.
Rubbing away the sting, we reveled in the red mark,
examining the flaming spot
with equal parts horror and admiration.
Rock crushed scissors cut paper covered rock.
Another rite of passage.
