SHE REMEMBERS

when her life came

in enormous gulps

eagerly consumed.

Now it's more likely

to arrive in small sips,

quieter, more precious.

Life's closer to the end

than to the beginning,

and that makes her sad.

It's all happened faster than

she ever thought it could.

She feels regret;

she loves her life, 

doesn't want it to end.

Suddenly greedy, 

she wants more,

more of everything.
