185. SWEET DREAMS

SWEET DREAMS
Dad's voice strong and clear,
he sang lullabies every night
after Mom settled us,
the boys in their big bedroom
with three of everything,
me next door
in my pink bedroom,
Dad in the hall between us.
His medley soothing,
Brahms Lullaby plus taps,
(he was the bugle boy),
his finale my favorite,
the Whiffenpoof Song,
an old Yale drinking song!
Gentlemen Songsters
off on a spree
doomed from here
to eternity
Lord have mercy
on such as we,
Baa Baa Baa.
My dad was an original,
his own kind of masterpiece.
Goodnight, Dad.
I love you.
