197. THE ROCKING CHAIR
197.
THE ROCKING CHAIR
It was old but still beautiful,
like me, I think.
The rocking chair,
family heirloom,
where I soothed and cuddled
our wee babes.
And
where my mother-in-law
rocked the infant version
of the man I love,
a lifetime ago.
And today
we gave it away.
No room for it
in the life
we’re preparing for.
I loved that chair
and now it’s gone.
This decade of life
for the letting go
of things,
of memories,
of people.
